Andrew So, Executive Director
South Bronx United merges Andrew’s passions for soccer, education, and community development. Before South Bronx United, he taught mathematics and special education at New Day Academy, a public secondary school in the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx. He has worked with Bronx youth in various other capacities from counselor to advisor to coach. Andrew holds a USSF coaching license, has coached kids of various ages and levels–including camps, recreational programs, school teams, and club teams–and head coaches two SBU boys teams. Andrew received his Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and earned a Masters of Science in Education from the Bank Street College of Education in New York.
George Nantwi, Youth Coordinator, Coach
George is a graduate of Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he majored in political science. He works as a researcher at the EdLab at Columbia University Teacher’s College currently focusing on Understanding Fiscal Responsibility, a multi million dollar grant aimed at teaching the federal budget, national debt and deficit to junior and high school students. George coaches the South Bronx United U17 boys travel team, the SBU 93 Sonics, while coordinating travel programs and activities.
Effie Diaz, SBU Girls HS
Effie is a player on the SBU Girls High School team and an 11th grader at Dewitt Clinton High School in the Bronx.
Josselin Lopez, SBU Girls HS
Josselin is a player on the SBU Girls High School team. She is a Mexican-American 9th grader at Dewitt Clinton High School in the Bronx where she also swims. Josselin is currently is in the Macy Honors program, soon to be einstein and was selected as one of the candidates for the Chappaqua Summer Scholarship Program, thanks partially to her straight-A academic record. She hopes to represent the Bronx with heart.
Mingoro “Papi” Fanny, SBU 93 Sonics, Goalkeeper
Mingoro Fanny, better known as “Papi”, is a goalkeeper on the SBU 93 Sonics. He is a rising 11th grader at Bronx School of Law and Finance.
